What is Blood City? Getting Started.
« Thread Started on May 19, 2007, 10:00pm »

In the heart of England there is a field of mist and walk deep down a path, a city you will meet.

This city is called Città di Anima, but to its residents it is called Blood City, taking its namesake from the never ending violence that happens within its walls. Due to the clouds that block out the sun at day, this city is only lit by the moon at night, and is a grim, dark place to live in. A place where lives are bartered by the Pound and the red, white and blue flag of Great Britain flies solemnly in the harsh wind. This city is a maze of buildings and resembles a hideous perversion of London on a colossal scale the likes of which many have never seen, miles upon miles covered in concrete jungle and architecture from many a age.

But to many, this city is an ark, a last stand for survival against the many ignorant politicians of the World. Where the inhuman beings live out their daily lives in the shadows under the watchful eyes of the Lords and Ladies of the City, whom muster their power to try and keep the peace and deal justice to the wrong doers that lurk in the dark. Warriors fight and die in Blood City by the cart full for various causes and innocents suffer and prosper from the outcomes from their battles. Some parts of the city are war grounds, the City Guard waging bloody war on the terrorists, gangers and Satanists that live off suffering and pain. In Blood City Humans, Abhumans and Spirit beings are one in a perpetual struggle for survival.

The majority of the huge populace of Blood City are lost people that get on with their daily lives, uncaring of who lives and who dies. They choose to remain ignorant of the realities of the Universe and ignore everything that might be a threat to their routine. But standing out from the majority are the people that are truly good. These people seek to bring peace to Blood City and slay the monsters that strive to cause suffering and death. Christianity plays a leading role in a lot of the lives of these few people that are pure of heart, for the influence of God in this city is great. The Almighty speaks through His Anglican Church of England and protects the souls of the Earth from Eternal Damnation. His servants walk the streets, seeking to bring an end to those that are truly evil in their heart. And there are many that could be considered evil in the city. Satanists that serve their dark lord through wicked methods, inflicting pain on the people of the city. Criminals that war against the law in order to satisfy their greed. Atheists that could not swallow the tang of truth and embrace reality, now insane and wondering the city. Communists, Nazis and Racists from dead Political Parties elsewhere in the world that have come to the city to hide from the public eye. And past the good and the bad there are the grey areas. People that serve Death, the Grim Reaper, the Lord of Purgatory and Time. Then there are followers of the Ancients, beings mistaken for Gods and Goddesses many times in the past. Psychics and mystics, necromancers, scientists, users of the Magical Warrens and champions of tradition. Teachers, merchants, mercenaries and businessmen and woman. There is a large diversity of sides, allegiances and morals in Blood City.

All who come to the City of Blood may quest for whatever they seek, but nearly always, the moment they enter, they are damned to die in the streets.

----------

Now to the subject of getting started.

Firstly you need to read the rules. Maybe take a peek in the OCC board for some stuff there is also good.

Then look at a few in character topics for hints on RPing in BC. Remember that we do not approve of one liners and expect all members of BC to include hooks (something for the next poster to go off) in their posts. We also wish all members to use proper grammar and spelling, unless they have an excuse like learning difficulties, dyslexia or problems writing or typing. If you do have a problem like this, tell the staff team about it and we will work something out.

Now that you've done all that reading its time to create a character. You are level one at the moment so you get one power. The more you post the more levels you advance, the more powers you get. When it comes to History be sure to be detailed. And remember to be sensible and realistic with your character too. And your character cannot be a copied character from the media (manga, anime, movies, etc). We were gaining on too many so I cut them off, disallowing the approval of these character types. Feel free to use pictures of existing characters though for your character. Just describe some changes for more individuality, such as outfit and weapon changes. There is a Characters and Character Development thread which will help you create a character, which can be seen in the Rules and Information Box and Rules board. The best way to avoid making an iffy character is to remember that you’re making a character for Blood City. A realistic character is realistic in context with the background information and theme of the RPG setting.

When it comes to character limits you can have three now. When you reach 1000 posts you get to have another character slot and when you reach 2500 posts you have yet another character slot. With each character include their name in your sig. And remember, Blood City strictly prohibits multi account creation. All the members only have one account here.

Then you can create a starting thread for your character in the beginnings board and you’re off. You can go somewhere else in the forum to start an introduction thread though, if you wish. This would be best if you’re introducing characters to roles or if they are themed and would be better off starting somewhere appropriate to this. Also when making threads in Blood City for your RPG adventures; if you want to continue the ‘story’ or ‘plot’ your character is in at a different location then you simply create a thread in that chosen place, providing a link to the new thread in the previous one. Threads that require a scene of a sexual nature should use time skips as we no longer allow descriptive sex scenes on Blood City.

I know this has little to do with getting started, but many people pick angels and demons for characters, so here is a run down on how things work.

Well, first off humans don't always become angels after death. Only occasionally. And when they do they become standard God angels. After that they might make a mistake (big mistake) and get marked with darker wings and no halo, signifying that they have something to make up for. Of coarse normal Dark Angels stay in Heaven or wander Purgatory (I know this is a Catholic thing and the site takes it's Christianity largely from Anglican and Protestant beliefs, but for the sake of BC, purgatory exists. No offence intended to Catholics). Angels that are marked or any other angel can decide to become a Death Angel (Angel of Death, Reaper, etc) and join Death (the entity. Not an Angel, not a Demon, etc but a being created from time itself as it is destroyed in the time flow. Essentially Death is made of and feeds off the past). Then there are Fallen Angels, which have gone totally traitor against the greater good and joined Satan. Souls never go to Hell, but after death in the afterlife this option becomes available. Every single resident of Hell essentially decided to leave Heaven, Satan included. The only exceptions are those Mortals born to be demons, twisted monsters trapped in their own flesh till death.

Now Angels and Demons and any Super Natural being on Earth is a being bound to the psychical universe. When they die they rebirth because normally they are meant to be bound to their respective afterlife, but since their souls are bound to our plain of existence, they pop back where they were before instead. They often have little, or no duty, unless they are on a mission from God, Death or Satan. The forms you see them in are taken simply because that is how they appear to humans and thus are forced to take such forms. In reality they and formless matter. Pure conciseness without the restraints of reality. In Blood City we rarely make direct references to Heaven, Hell or Purgatory because we want them to be places that are not psychically possible for a human to even start to imagine.

And that is a run down of everything to do with Blood City canon fluff on the subject of Super Natural beings, the Afterlife, etc, etc, etc.
